Strange telephone calls, telemarketers: Are you hearing an echo? I called the wrong number. Let me try calling the front desk.

I’ve written before on spam callers and telemarketers.  It was last December. The time wasters have not been resting much.  This year, the latest recorded spam call has been repeating every few weeks.

Since they’re interjecting touch tones throughout the call, it seems designed only to waste time on call centers phone systems. Different phrases are read every 10 to 15 seconds, perhaps this is a telemarketing industry time frame.  Maybe if the operator hears something, they might think the other person is having trouble and hanging on the line.  I’m not sure and have no idea.  According to Caller ID, each call appears to come from a different phone number.
